More TV Wisdom: Golden Words

Continuing the August theme of finding wisdom in the TV shows we watch everyday…
Thank you for being a friend.

Some times the simplest ones are the best. Deb, beloved friend and singer of songs, pointed this one out, and I couldn’t believe it hadn’t clicked before. Maybe because it’s a song lyric and I was too fixated on dialogue. But it says everything in six words. We may talk about our friends’ gifts or wise words, but I think what really changes us is their presence. When the worst times come, having a friend sit with me reminds me that I’m not cursed or ugly or repulsive. When the best times come, my friend’s presence reminds me of the reality of joy, that some part of this happiness will always stay with me, even after today is over. The best kind of friend sticks around for both, and for all the days that fall somewhere in between best and worst, when you eat cheesecake and watch a movie you’ve seen before and laugh till you can’t breathe and realize you’re not quite as stressed out as you were an hour ago.
That’s what love looks like with its makeup off.
Kimberly is thankful for all of you, friends.
