Fall Where They May

Be joyful, though you have considered all the facts.

It seems like I’ve attended a lot of memorial services lately. The fact has smacked me in the face: the older you get, the more people you will lose. My pastor has a great theological summary about this: it sucks. (I know, you’re wondering when she’ll write the book explaining this complicated scriptural interpretation. I’ll keep you posted.)
We can’t stop loving people just because we and they get older, though, so what can we do? We can rejoice in the love that we have. Yes, it will bring a degree of sadness, but that very grief testifies to the fact that our life has love in it, and love, once given, can never be completely taken away. Acknowledge the good even as you deal with the bad. They can exist simultaneously without bringing the world to a crashing halt.
Take joy in this day and all the love there is in it.
Kimberly has joy in her heart and sometimes she even lets it out.
